I usually think of my entrepreneur hat as different from my security pro hat. However I'm finding they might be the same after all (Fightclub flashback). I also have a confession to make: I have a man-crush on Mark Suster, a venture capitalist in LA. I've never met him but his blog is awesome.
Give this thought experiment a try: read Mark's Entrepreneur DNA post but replace entrepreneur with security leader, replace startup with your_company. Note one of Mark's key points, it's very rare someone excels in all areas. I know I don't however it's fun to try.
Sure you can say every leader shares these qualities. However given the relative age of our profession, the accountability vs authority challenges, dynamic threat environments, and difficulty to demonstrate ROI, I think security leaders share some unique challenges.
(Mark, if a google alert happens to pick this up, I'm not stalking you, just appreciate your work and sharing it with the other side of a different table.)
